EVARO —  An Arlee man and a Ronan family were involved in a fatal, multiple-vehicle crash on the Evaro Hill stretch of Highway 93 in northern Missoula County on Sunday afternoon. A 21-year-old passenger in a third vehicle, Joscelyn Lea Cook of Plains, was killed in the accident.

Cook had reportedly been traveling with another Plains resident when a Toyota pickup being driven by the 21-year-old man from Arlee lost control and crossed the highway’s center line. The Toyota glanced the side of a vehicle carrying a Ronan family before then striking the passenger side of the silver Ford Ranger pickup in which Cook was riding.

The driver of Cook’s vehicle was hospitalized and released from St. Patrick’s Hospital. The occupants of the Ronan vehicle were also treated and released from an area hospital, while the Arlee man was taken to St. Patrick’s with severe injuries. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
