The Arlee Scarlets have some individual competitors that are emerging as they approach the conclusion of the regular track season.
Shawntaya Nelson is one of the competitors that is emerging as one of the top-flight competitors for the Scarlets.
In the last couple of races, Nelson has showcased her ability to be a top-notch distance runner.
Nelson finished third in the 3,200-meter run at the Lake County Track Thursday afternoon with a time of 14 minutes, 12 seconds and also finished second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13 minutes, 37.54 seconds at the KLH Race Saturday afternoon.
Nelson also showed her skills not only as a distance runner but also in the pole vault and cleared a distance of 7 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault finishing in first place.
Each week Payton Lammerding has continued to improve and this week was no different for Lammerding. Lammerding is quickly becoming one of the top competitors in the Mission Valley.
Lammerding recorded a first-place finish with a personal record of 35 feet, 2 inches at John Cheek Top-8 Tuesday afternoon at Anaconda High School.
She also finished in fifth place in the discus recording a personal record throw of 92 feet, 10 inches.
At KLH, Lammerding finished fourth with a throw of 34 feet, 7.5 inches.
The Arlee Scarlets will now travel to the Class 13-C and 14-C on May 11-12 in Missoula.
