Mission Lady Bulldogs sweep week’s slate

This past weekend, the Lady Bulldogs of Mission St. Ignatius traveled to Troy, where they topped the Lady Trojans in straight sets to notch another 7B conference win.

Karolyna Buck led the team by dipping into double digits for kills, while Syd Brander led the defense with digs among the mid-teens.

Last Tuesday, Mission hosted Ronan for round two of their cross-country Rez rivalry wrangle. The two teams split the first two sets, then Mission gained the upper hand by taking the third.

Ronan battled valiantly throughout the fourth set, almost extending the match to a fifth set finale. But Mission was able to pull out the fourth in extras with a late surge, 26-24.

Syd Brander and Karolyna Buck combined for 19 kills to offset the mayhem caused by 5-11 Maiden Madeline McCrea’s dozen and a half. Ronan owned an 11 to 4 edge at the net for blocks, but Mission rocked the service line with 16 to 3 margin in service aces over the Maidens. Hunter Eichert sizzled in a half dozen, while Syd Brander contributed a quartet. Mission also held the edge on defense by placing a trio in double figures, led by almost two dozen by River Gonzalez (23d), followed by dozen from Syd Brander further supplemented by another ten from Azia Umphrey.

Mission will have already hosted the Lady Bluehawks of Thompson Falls this past Tuesday, then travel to Eureka on Saturday, October 19, followed by another road trip down into the Bitterroot to tangle with the 6B leading Florence Lady Falcons on Tuesday, October 22.
