If Polsonís recently graduated two-time cross-country State A champion Bea Frissell encountered any difficulties in transitioning from high school to collegiate competition, it sure didnít seem to show.
The newly minted Lady Griz harrier Frissell won the first cross country race of her collegiate career at the end of August and was subsequently named Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week for that performance.
Each of her subsequent races yielded a top 10 finish, culminating with All-Big Sky honors with a 10th place finish at the conference championships in Greeley, Colorado, the first weekend of November.
The Greeley area received eight inches of snow earlier in the week, and what was left of the storm dictated the conservative nature of the races.
Only a vehicle-wide path of grass was available on the course and it was a highly desirable location.
This past weekend, Frissell got a chance to raise the bar even further as she competed in the NCAA Regional at Salt Lake City. Criteria for advancing to compete at nationals are pretty stringent and unless her team managed to qualify, an individual at-large bid would require shaving at least a minute from the time she posted in order to get it down below the mid-20s for a viable chance of consideration.
